Rimbey Drop-In Centre Report

By Doreen Glanfield

Summer is surely around the corner! I'm sure we're all looking forward to some fun and warm weather.

The Drop-In is celebrating Seniors Week starting on June 2 with a Celebrate Your Heritage Food Fair. We have some different ethnic cultures making samples for your tasting. You will be able to taste some Norwegian, Dutch, German etc. specialties and enjoy their displays of their ethnic backgrounds.

As well, we have some different craft displays, with some articles for sale. Baskets, plants, quilting, spinning wheel and wool displays, leather braiding etc. In fact if you have something of interest to show please contact me at 843 6498 and we'll make room for you.

FCSS is helping with this fair as their Seniors Week project and will be having helpful booth demonstrations. The fair will start at l:30 p.m. June 2 and continue until 4 p.m. Also, from 4 to 7 p.m., the Drop-In will offer supper with Alberta Beef and Saskatoon Pie.

The regular seniors dance will start at 7 p.m. We hope all our town seniors will turn out for the fair and enjoy the supper. A special welcome to all you seniors 50 - 55 + and any guests you wish to bring, you dancers will enjoy the day and the supper too.

The rest of the week we are having a pancake breakfast on Wednesday, June 3 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon with all day fun floor curling. Come out and learn a new pastime if you have never tried curling. Each game only lasts 45 min. and we have four lanes. Enjoy pancakes and sausages for your breakfast and/or lunch.

On Friday the 5th we are holding a Strawberry Tea and Bake Sale from l:30 - 4 p.m. We will see how many different kinds of strawberry desserts we can make!! All these ‘days’ are held at the Drop-In Centre.

The newly opened Resource Centre at the Drop-In is busy sorting out how they are going to manage the different requests. I will write an up-date as soon as we get organized. Please be patient!
