2022 was a pivotal year at the Rimbey Municipal Library. After many years of advocacy and fundraising, we finally have a completed expansion, including a programming room and staff work room. This expansion additionally led to aesthetic changes made to the main body of the library. Utilizing our new programming room, we hosted various programs ranging from our annual wine tasting, to our frequent family movie nights.
From Jan. 1 to Dec. 4 we hosted 37 performances by professional performers, ranging from Christina Bouey playing her several million dollar 350 year-old Stradivarius violin, to children’s storytelling by Kathy Jessup. Additionally we had the pleasure to host our yearly 17-week musical series, most commonly known as Music at the Park, as a splash of entertainment throughout the summer.
Another highlight of this year includes our monthly Indigenous programs, which we will continue hosting as we approach 2023.
We also hosted a variety of children’s programs, starting with our spring festival, to the annual summer reading program and currently, our after-school programs, workshops and parties. Our programs not only remain at the library, but extend to other local facilities including the Peter Lougheed Community Centre and Rimbey United Church, to host a variety programs including musical performers and comedians.
2022 has been a splash of success for the Rimbey Municipal Library, and we are excited to show you what we have to offer this upcoming year of 2023!
