Once again West Country Outreach School (WCOS) has had to modify their graduations due to ongoing covid-19 restrictions.

WCOS aims to celebrate the 2020 and 2021 High School Graduates in a double ceremony. The new date for WCOS Grad & Awards 2020 and 2021 is Sept. 24, 2021 beginning at 5 p.m.

“We initially planned for May. 29, 2021, but given the uncertainty and move to at home and online learning. We didn’t feel that it was fair for our graduates,” said Alva Holliday, Principal at WCOS.

“On Sept 24, we hope that we can gather in person and celebrate our graduates,” said Holliday.

In a online letter statement says, “Given current provincial restrictions, we cannot host more than five people at a time, including staff. This isn’t feasible.”

“Rather than suddenly shift to an on-line, outdoor, or ‘drive-by’ graduation scenario, we feel it is important to honor our grads in person, with a ceremony that fits with your accomplishments.”

The double graduation will be held at the Rimbey Community Centre for an evening ceremony, complete with a catered banquet.

“Graduation should be everything you deserve it to be. For that, we must wait a while longer. And we hope you will too.”
