Sled poker rally had big numbers

It was a beautiful day for the dozens of snowmobiles that arrived but the deep snow conditions were not favorable for the few quads that entered the recent annual Bentley Monkey Top Sled/Quad Poker Rally.

In the arena parking lot, in the curling rink parking lot, in the lot behind the Monkey Top, in lots south of Main Street, and along numerous side streets, trucks carrying snow machines or pulling trailers for ATVs were parked everywhere they could.

More than 300 people participated: they came from far and wide including close by and central Alberta and also other places such as Lloydminster, Medicine Hat and Fort McMurray.

At the end of the day the grand prize winner with the high hand was Shane Archibald.

Mystery hand winners were Brad Swenson, Mike McKay, and Randy Saffronovich.

The prize for low hand went to Brad Hayward.

With the increased activity and influx of visitors to Bentley many businesses benefited. That was evident as people lined up at the only gas station in town to fill up vehicles and machines and jerry cans before heading home after a day of fun in the great outdoors
