Take the 5/30 Health Challenge

A success in Quebec since its inception in 2005, the 5/30 Health and Wellness Challenge is coming for the first time to both English and French speaking Albertans in 2011.

The Health Challenge invites participants to take action for their health from March 1 to April 11. It offers a global approach that stresses the importance of taking care of both the body and the mind.

During these six weeks, participants commit to achieving or maintaining three goals:

• Eat better — including at least five servings of fruits or vegetables each day (Goal 5)

• Move more — be active at least 30 minutes a day (Goal 30), at least five days a week

• Take care of yourself — pursue a specific, personal wellness objective (choice of five).

Anyone aged four years and older can take up the Health Challenge individually, as a family, or in a team with friends or colleagues.

By registering to the 5/30 Health and Wellness Challenge, the participants receive support via e-mails to acquire and maintain positive health habits and accomplish practical and concrete gestures for their well being.

Registration is free of charge on the website.

You can register before March 1 at: http://www.defisante-530equilibre.ca/alberta or http://www.530health andwellnesschallenge.ca/alberta

Prizes with a total of value of more than $12,000, will be awarded to participants, toward the last weeks of the challenge.

Mark Connolly from CBC, and Rebecca Turcot Martel from Radio-Canada, the two spokespersons for this first edition of the 5/30 Health and Wellness Challenge, invite all Albertans to get started with them in taking up the Health Challenge by registering on the website.
