The Rimbey Municipal Library is the place to be this summer!

By Lindsay Gammie and Alysha Trautman

As school comes to an end, another fun-filled summer is approaching at the Rimbey Municipal Library! This year’s Summer Reading Program theme is Detectives. We would like all children between the ages of 5-12 to come join us for story time, crafts, activities, games, and of course prizes. As this program is so popular and is free of charge, we are encouraging you to sign up as soon as possible. Registration forms can be picked up at the Rimbey Municipal Library as well we will be coming around to the Rimbey Elementary School, Rimbey Christian School and Bluffton School to hand out brochures and registration forms.

There are currently three sessions scheduled to run weekly. Wednesdays there are two sessions offered at: 10:00 am–12:00 pm and 1:30 pm–3:30 pm and Thursdays there is an afternoon session running from 1:30 pm-3:30 pm. This year’s program starts on Wednesday, July 8 and will end on Thursday, August 20. There will be Book-nic to conclude the program on Wednesday, August 26.

The Rimbey Municipal Library is looking for volunteers, ages 14 and up, to help with the Summer Reading Program. Not only is volunteering a great way to give back to the community, it also looks great on resumes. If you are interested please pick up an application form at the library.

This summer we encourage all of you who are not kids anymore to continue reading and log your minutes. This includes reading novels, the newspaper, magazines and even your mail! Let’s see if the community can read more than the Rimbey Municipal Library staff! The race to reach the top of the magnifying glass can be seen on display at the library. To participate please come visit us at the Rimbey Municipal Library.

The Summer Reading Program is not the only program going on in the library. Coming up in June we have pizza and board games June 18th at 5:3pm, and The Amazing Race for ages 12 and over on June 24th at 3:3pm. Also, starting in July we have Family Movie Night every Thursday at 6:3pm, sponsored by ConocoPhillips. We also have new books on the shelves such as Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Jane Austen and Seth Grahame-Smith, as well as The Best of Times by Penny Vincenzi. You can also see what is going on in the library by following us on Facebook and Twitter. The staff at the Rimbey Municipal Library hopes to see you this summer!
