The green space in front of the Rimbey Junior Senior High School is a little more welcoming thanks to the hard work and fundraising efforts of the Rimbey Jr. High School Foundation (RJHSF).

The mission of the RJHSF is to ‘enhance student life’ and two years ago, one of the enhancements the group felt the school needed, was a sitting area for students and staff in front of the school.

The foundation also applied for the the EQUS Operation Round Up grant. EQUS provides funds through Operation Round Up to organizations and initiatives that support and benefit seniors, youth or children in the rural communities that EQUS serves.

Combined with the grant, their fundraising efforts and local donors and volunteers four new picnic tables were purchased and installed.

“The high school foundation looks forward to seeing the tables in use this school year and hope they will provide students, teachers and parents with a place to gather and sit for many years to come,” says Lysbeth Peters, chair of the Rimbey Jr. High School Foundation.

“We wanted the students to have a place to sit outside or be able to hold classes out there.”

With funds raised through hot lunches and raffles, RJHSF also supports projects such as book buying, purchasing educational tools and bringing in guest speakers.
