Entertainment at the Beatty Heritage House in Rimbey promises to be a major highlight as January draws to a close.
This month, Pierre Schryer and Adam Dobres will bring their musical skills to Rimbey.
The musicians will entertain at the Beatty House on Jan. 31.
The special Home Routes concert featuring Franco-Ontarian champion fiddler Pierre Schryer and European influenced guitarist Adam Dobres promises to be an exceptional one.
A tour de force of versatility, fine musicianship and technical dexterity, this duo brings together two diverse and successful music careers laden with awards and nominations including JUNO, Canadian Folk Music, Western Canadian Music Awards and the Grammy Awards. Their first connections were in Victoria, BC through friends and collaborations on festival stages and recordings. Several tours and musical projects later, the duo continues to appear on national and international festival stages from the Pacific to the Atlantic and beyond. This won’t be a concert to miss.

Pierre Schryer is one of Canada’s leading traditional fiddlers, a JUNO nominee, Canadian Folk Music Award nominee, and celebrated performer and producer.
The musician is thought to be an ambassador of Celtic music and national icon in traditional music. He has received numerous titles and awards including Canadian Open Fiddle Champion, Canadian Grand Masters Fiddle Champion, Violoneux Championnat, and North American Irish Fiddle Champion.
He’s released six solo recordings on his own label, New Canadian Records, including “Blue Drag”, which was honoured with a nomination at the 2004 JUNO Awards for best Roots and Traditional Album of the Year, and “Mélange”, which was nominated at the 2008 Canadian Folk Music Awards for Instrumental Solo Album of the Year.
Schryer has performed with a variety of musicians including Natalie McMaster, members of Leahy, the Barra MacNeils, Ashley MacIsaac, Liz Carroll, Matapat, Club Carrefour, La Bottine Souriante, Altan, Old Blind Dogs, Chieftains, Jane Bunnet, and including numerous symphony orchestras across Canada with his acclaimed Symphony Pops show. He’s recently relocated to Victoria, BC after leaving his post as creator and artistic director of the “Canadian Celtic Celebration”, a three-day Celtic music and learning festival in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
On the guitar, Adam Dobres (www.adamdobres.com) has a natural ability to embody any style of music. He is equally at home with Bluegrass, Celtic, Jazz, Country, Folk, Old Time, Rock and Blues, and more. His love of the electric and acoustic guitar has taken him around the globe, performing throughout North America, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. With a taste for experimenting with personal style and a love of touring, Adam is living the dream. From playing Celtic music with some of Canada’s finest fiddle players, Adam has branched out to Pop Rock with Grammy Nominee Toni Childs (including an Australian tour were they opened for the legendary Jackson Brown), performed with renowned musicians playing exotic instruments such as the Sitar, Turkish Lira and African Kora, and toured North America and Europe, with groups such as Outlaw Social and Dustin Bentall. Adam recently released his self-titled, first solo album – an eclectic mix of his own compositions revealing his many influences and his absolute grace and superb versatility on the guitar.
