Bentley Fair celebrates 50 years of Royal Purple

The Bentley Fair and Rodeo coming up this summer is a great family event offering fun and excitement for everyone.

This year’s theme for the Aug. 4 to 7 event is ‘Celebrating 50 Years of Royal Purple.’.

The activities will kick off on Thursday, Aug. 4 with a pancake breakfast in the parking lot of the town office. The ever-popular Bentley parade follows at 1 p.m.

A senior pie social, bench show (craft and flower display) and kids’ wool bustin’ will be part of the afternoon events.

The cowboy mounted shooting demonstration, which proved popular last year, will be held at 7 p.m. in the arena.

On Friday, Aug. 5 a pancake breakfast will be served and the CARA sanctioned rodeo will begin at 6 p.m.

A full slate of activities is planned for Saturday, Aug. 6, beginning with a pancake breakfast.

A car show, farmers’ market in the curling rink and horseshoe tournament will provide entertainment and fun for everyone. Laser tag in the community centre will be ongoing all day. Pony rides will also be held during the day.

A drive-in movie and fireworks, which may be held Saturday, are in the planning stages.

Rodeo action begins at 6 p.m. with a rodeo dance to follow at 9 p.m.

Activities for the fair and rodeo will wind down on Sunday with an interdenominational church service to be held at 10 a.m.
