Bethlehem A Live Nativity, a multi-church event hosted at the Rimbey Alliance Church is held every year on the first Sunday in December. A large number of the local churches are represented. Over 100 people were served chili Sunday, but numbers might have been a little low given the difficulty to get to the event. And, as other years, wagon rides to individuals and families that attend the event are offered. There is also chili and buns following each performance, along with coffee and hot chocolate, treats that are made by the participants, and of course, candy canes.
We switched last year to a seated performance,” said Pastor Terry Oke. “In previous years the guests had to walk along a path that was cleared through the snow between the different sets. But it was difficult to walk on the uneven, frozen ground. Now our guests are able to sit on hay bales, blankets are optional, and watch as the cast moves from set to set. We hope it makes it easier for those who find it tough to walk on uneven ground, or those with children. There are two performances, at 5:30 and 6:30 pm.”
Churches represented at the live nativity this year were Anglican Church of the Epiphany, Catholic Parish of St. Margaret, Christian Reformed Church, Church of the Nazarene, Hoadley Evangelical Missionary Church, Ponderosa Cowboy Church, Rimbey Alliance Church, Rimbey Cowboy Church, Rimbey New Life Fellowship, and Zion Lutheran Church.
