Bob Donaldson grew up in Rimbey, surrounded by music, and it’s a legacy he’s continued.
“That’s where the music started,” Donaldson said of Rimbey. “I was the only kid that carried a guitar on the bus and played on the bus.”
Now he’s bringing his Ineffable Tour to town, setting up on Saturday, Aug. 20 on Main Street, outside Mandy’s and Rimbey TV & Electronics, and playing from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Ineffable is an extended playlist Donaldson recently released and it contains four singles. This tour will be taking him to several small Alberta towns, as well as into Calgary and Edmonton, to play.
Donaldson, who works as a paralegal and mediator in Edmonton for his day job, said he hasn’t played in Rimbey yet as part of his musical career.
“I’m excited to come back to Rimbey,” he said. “It’s going to be pretty cool to step back in time a bit.”
Donaldson’s music style is a little bit of everything – mostly country, as well as some rock and pop music.
“The show is acoustic music with a twist,” he explained. “It’s crowd-pleasing stuff.”
In 2021, Donaldson won the Alberta Man of Country Music Award and past nominations include the 2019 ACMA Awards for the Community Service Award, three awards at the 2020 International Singer Songwriters Association Awards: International Male Single of the Year for his song Maybe, International Songwriter of the Year and International Album of the Year for Here & Now (Demos and Other Things). Bob was also nominated in five categories in the 2021 International Singer Songwriters Association Awards and has advanced to a finalist in two categories: International Emerging Male Artist of the Year and International Entertainer of the Year. His music has also been translated and released in Norway.
So far in 2022, Donaldson has been nominated for six awards for the 2022 International Singer Songwriter Association in the international categories of Male Entertainer of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year, Male Rising Star of the Year, Male Single of the Year for Taken (Spirit of a Child), Male Songwriter of the Year and Male Emerging Artist of the Year.
