This year’s Rimbey Christian School Banquet will feature comedian, author, and radio host Phil Callaway, along with opening act local Harpist and school alumni Talitha Peacock.

The event will take place at the Peter Lougheed Community Centre in Rimbey on Feb. 10. Doors open at 5:45 p.m., with supper provided by Starkist Catering at 6:30 p.m.

Carmen Nixon, who sits on the fundraising committee for the school, said her children are students at the school and have been thriving. She said she is looking forward to the event.

“I like helping out the community and helping fundraise, especially for the school. They need all the support they can get, that’s how they can keep an operation. If we didn’t have financial support from community members, there’s no way we’d be able to function,” said Nixon.

All of the money raised from the event will go back into the school.

“It’s very important to our family to keep the school running and operating and provide them with all of the needs, so our kids can have a great education.”

The early bird draw for purchasing a table of eight has been extended to Jan. 20, due to weather closures, where eight $60 gift certificates may be won to a local restaurant.

Tickets are available to be purchased at the Rimbey Christian School and Stationary, Stories and Sounds for $65 each or $480 for a table of eight.

In previous years, the banquet has seen performances by George Canyon, the Fallow Years band and more.
