Rimbey plans a Canada Day party with style

Canada Day in Rimbey promises to offer all the excitement of a giant birthday party deserving of our huge and diverse country.

The day begins with a pancake breakfast at the Pas-Ka-Poo Park from 8 to 11 a.m.

A charity fun run, a new event for Rimbey, will begin at 9 a.m. and provides participants with the option of a one- or three-kilometre run or race. The race begins and ends at Pas-Ka-Poo Park and participants are encouraged to dress up in costumes fitting for the Canada Day theme.

Proceeds and donations from the race will go to Rimbey Big Brothers/Big Sisters program.

Park activities sponsored by The Town of Rimbey and the Rimbey Historical Society will be ongoing throughout the day. Some of these activities include mini golf, barrel train rides, horse drawn wagon rides, donkey rides, a dunk tank, inflatable obstacle course, face painting and balloon art.

Tours of the International Truck Museum and Pas-Ka-Poo Historic Village will be offered.

A souvenir booth and concession will be set up at the park.

The Legion parade will be held at 11 a.m. and ceremonies and a cake, compliments of Rimbey Co-op, and ice cream will be served at 1 p.m.

From 1 to 3 p.m. an ethnic foods booth sponsored by ‘Especially for You’ catering will be held.

On the Mark Entertainment and family activities will be on the Canada Day agenda from 1 to 3 p.m.

The day will conclude with a fireworks display at the ball diamonds.
