Bustling weekend coming up in Bentley

Bentley will host a range of events Aug 8-10 with a rodeo, pancake breakfast and show & shine

Bentley will be a busy place Aug 8-10 as it gets ready to host the Bentley & District Ag Society Fair and Rodeo.

This year marks the 56th annual rodeo, and it's also a salute tp the 75th anniversary of the Bentley Municipal Library.

"Every year we come up with someone or some group that we honour. This year it's the library," said Bentley Mayor Greg Rathjen.

Bench show entries for the rodeo weekend will take place on Aug. 6 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Aug. 7 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The museum will be open both days from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Kicking things off on Aug. 8 will be a pancake breakfast cooked by Servus Credit Union from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the Elks Legion Park.

The Sunset Hills Riding Club parade will take place starting at 1:00 p.m. around Bentley.

"We have a huge parade, always a big parade and it goes well," said Rathjen.

The junior rodeo will then take place at 3:00 p.m. in the arena.

Sunset Hills Riding Club will be cooking up a pancake breakfast on Aug. 9 and 10 from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the Elks Legion Park.

Throughout the weekend people will be able to enjoy the bench shows, along with viewing the Bentley Museum.

The C.A.R.A. sanctioned rodeo will take place Aug. 9 at 6:00 p.m. followed by beer gardens and a performance by Ashley Law. A drive-in movie will also take place this day at dusk.

A Kruzin' West Show N Shine will be taking place Aug. 10 at 3:00 p.m. on Railroad Ave., with registration beginning at 9:00 a.m. There will be trophies, door prizes and a 50/50 draw.

"We have 200 or more cars on the Saturday," said Rathjen.

Another rodeo performance will take place at 6:00 p.m. Saturday, with beer gardens and a Dancing In The Dirt afterparty from 9:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. Fireworks will take place that day at 10:15 p.m. Also taking place on Saturday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. is the Bentley Farmers' Market.

Taking place on the Sunday will be a community church service in the Bentley Community Church at 10:00 a.m.

Tickets to the rodeo are $10 per adult, $6 for youth and seniors and kids six and under free.
