Another big success for Rockin' Rimbey

Rockin' Rimbey had another great year, with lots of community coming out to support the event

Rockin' Rimbey had another great year, with plenty of community members coming out to support the event Aug. 15-19.

They had two drive-ins on Aug. 16 and Aug. 17.

"Friday was family night to work in conjunction with kiddies day at the Agrim, and we showed E.T. that evening with a showing of 30 cars in attendance," said Laverne Oberhammer, one of the chairpersons of the event with his wife Michelle.

Saturday night was a date night to go along with the movie American Graffiti.

"We had roughly 50 cars show up for that one, so it was great. It was absolutely phenomenal."

And it wasn't just the drive-in that was a success. The Co-operators Agrim Centre saw great numbers in attendance, along with FCSS' beef on a bun meal.

"I heard numbers of over 230 buns were served that night," said Oberhammer.

He added that Parkin' In The Park Show & Shine was also a huge success, along with the businesses that all took part in Rockin' Rimbey.

"It was phenomenal, everybody was eager to take part. There was nothing but compliments. Our ice cream social on Saturday was huge in front of the town office.

"The best way to conclude this is in order for Rockin' Rimbey to work it comes to that old saying, 'many hands make light work.'"

He added that Rimbey could use more of this involvement from organizations in the community as it presents nothing but positivity.

"It makes Rimbey a good place to want to be."
