Students and staff at Bentley School will play hockey in remembrance of former Bentley Educational Assistant Joslyn Snow, who passed away from cancer a few years ago.
Snow was only 27 years old when she passed away from a brain tumour.
The hockey game will take place Feb. 12 at the Bentley Arena, and will be a student versus staff format.
Registration is now closed for the tournament, but about 70 students will be participating this year.
Because they are K-12, there are three periods, with each period having a different division with age groups put together to play.
"We don't want the little ones to get hurt, and it's a slower speed. We also have staff who might not be the greatest hockey players either, so they might feel comfortable playing hockey against the little ones, but maybe not the older ones," said Marsha Lush, administrative assistant at Bentley School.
A trophy will be presented to the winning group, who will then get their name on it.
"It's a very fun event. Everyone seems to look forward to it every year. The kids have a great time, they always enjoy coming out."
There will also be 50/50 tickets available for purchase, along with a raffle table set up with items people can buy raffle tickets on.
Money raised from the raffle table and 50/50 tickets go to the scholarship, which is then awarded to Grade 12 graduates in June.
The scholarship encompasses the school's PRIDE motto, which stands for pride, partnership, respect, integrity, dedication and excellence. This is then how the students are awarded
The event takes place Feb. 12 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Bentley Arena. It is free to attend.
