Multi-world champion bronc rider and highly esteemed horseman Mel Hyland is coming to Rimbey April 5 and 6 to teach a sold out clinic.
"We actually filled up all of the spots. Normally, he only takes between six and 12 people, and I actually had 14 that were ready with deposits to come," said Brittany Neudorf, general manager of Rimbey Ag Society, adding that the spots filled up quickly within 72 hours of her posting his arrival.
All of the participants will bring a horse of their choosing that they own and that they want to better their horsemanship skills with.
"So working on a connection between them and their horse and understanding their timing, proper balance and communication," said Neudorf about some of the things they will work on in the clinic.
Even though it's a sold out event, auditors are still welcome to come for $30 a day to listen to him teach.
Hyland's philosophy in teaching horsemanship, training, giving lessons and helping people with their horses is 'the horse is never wrong.'
"He's incredibly impressive. Mel, back in his prime, had a 22-year rodeo career across North America. He's won almost every major rodeo in North America at least once.
"He's extremely well known and still takes on training horses. It's just a really great name to come through Rimbey."
