The 2025 Alberta Women's Curling Championship will be here soon, bringing in lots of excitement to Rimbey. The event runs Jan. 22-26 at the Rimbey Arena.

"Our businesses and our individuals have stepped up big time. Our volunteerism, our fundraising and our sponsorship has gone extremely well. I'm very happy with how that's gone," said Rimbey Mayor Rick Pankiw, adding that they have a great committee.

They meet every two weeks, and according to Pankiw, they are either on track or ahead of track what needs to be done for Jan. 18.

The ice will be getting started the night of Jan. 17, with opening ceremonies beginning Jan. 22 at 6 p.m.

The social house in the community centre will be open every day from the start of curling to the evening.

The athlete and sponsor appreciation event is Jan. 21 from 8 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

"We are inviting all of our sponsors who are going to make this a wonderful event to come and introduce themselves to the curlers so the curlers can see who made this all possible," said Pankiw.

Their volunteer appreciation event will be held on Jan. 26 from 12:30 p.m. 3 p.m., which their will be upwards of 140 volunteers.

Curling begins on Jan. 22, with the first draw beginning at 1:00 p.m.

Pankiw says they will be bringing in entertainment on Jan. 24 with a band called The Good The Bad and The Ugly, who will perform in the social house at 9:00 p.m., which is open to everyone.

Tickets will be available at the door for $10 a person.

"We're hoping to not only get curling enthusiasts out, but a lot of people from town and our surrounding area who want to go to it," said Pankiw.

On Jan. 25, they will have another performance by Court Jesters Dueling Pianos at the social house at 9:00 p.m.

Tickets recently became available, with single draw, day or full event passes. They can be purchased online at curlab2025.eventbrite.ca.

Pankiw said they are also always looking for volunteers. People can go on the Facebook page at 2025 Curling Alberta Women's Championship
