The Rimbey Chamber of Commerce is getting back up and running again after being almost dissolved for a year in 2024, as there wasn't much interest from the community.
Mandy Swanson, owner of Mandy's Fashions and Ruby & Sole Ltd. will be the new President.
"I wanted to see if there was interest in the community, so I did a little bit of walking around town in October, and we did have a meeting in October to see if there was interest," she said, adding that there were a few people who asked about trying to do a business association rather than a chamber.
"In my eyes, we've already got the chamber kind of set up, why not go that route and try and get it going again?"
They then held another meeting in November and an AGM in January. Swanson said if they could get a board going again, they would continue on, which they were able to do.
"The goal this year would be to just get it back on its feet."
Swanson said they have Kim Short as the new Vice President, Shandel Barr as the Secretary and Amy Guldbrandsen as the treasurer. Directors as of right now are Chad Patel, Donna Kercher, Steve Croft and Stacy Shantz.
Swanson said there is still a lot of red tape to get through in order for them to get to a point where they will be asking for membership, but going forward they are hoping to hold meetings every second Thursday of each month. They will meet next on April 3.
