During this time period, the Rimbey RCMP detachment responded to 51 calls for service.
These calls included 11 traffic violations, seven suspicious person/vehicle/property, four traffic collisions, three mischief, three well-being checks, two items lost/found, two assist general public, two theft, one assistance to Canadian Federal Department/Agency, one assistance to Canadian Police (non-RCMP) Agency, one unsafe storage of firearms, one prevent breach of peace, one failure to comply with order, one animal call, one uttering threats, one break and enter, one
harassing communications, one municipal bylaw, one abandoned vehicle, one operation while impaired, one liquor act, one Child, Youth, and Family Services Act, one 911 act, one breach of peace, and one false alarm.
June 25 - A Rimbey RCMP received a report of an individual who was locked inside the post office and could not get out. RCMP members attended and opened the door for the individual.
June 27 - Rimbey RCMP received a report of an unknown individual at asking people for a ride, not giving clear answers, and making people uncomfortable. Rimbey RCMP members attended and located the individual in front of a local business. An unknown citizen offered the individual a ride to Red Deer.
June 28 - RCMP received a report of a break and enter. RCMP members attended to find no damage to the house, but every room as well as all the drawers and cabinets had been gone through. The house was left a mess, and a few things were taken from outside. This matter is still under investigation.
June 28 - RCMP received a request from Canadian Border Services Agency for assistance with a tip they received that an individual was going to abduct children and take them to a sex ring in Miami. Rimbey RCMP affirmatively advised that this in not an ongoing concern and the individual that reported the tip is not involved with the alleged abductor or the children, and has not contacted the RCMP with this information.
June 28 - Rimbey RCMP received a report from numerous people of an erratic bus driver that was swerving all over the road and hit a road sign. RCMP pulled the bus over and found that although the driver was not impaired by alcohol, they had been driving all night and their story did not make sense as their only duty was to drive from Red Deer to the Ponoka Stampede. RCMP issued the bus driver a careless driving ticket as well as a 24 hour driving suspension.
Rimbey RCMP provides policing services to a large geographical area.
This area goes north to Township Road 450, west to North Saskatchewan River west of
Highway 22, south to Township Road 410 and east to Range Road 10.
This jurisdiction encompasses the communities of Rimbey, Hoadley, Springdale, Nugent, Homeglen, Bluffton, Lavesta, Willesden Green, Leedale, Summer Village of Parkland Beach, Sandy Point, Meridian Beach, Sunnyside, Paulsen's Pasture, Raymond Shores, Lynn Acres, Birch Bay and Westlake Estates.
