Rimbey RCMP investigate report of gunshots

June 4, 205 to June 11

During this period, the Rimbey RCMP detachment responded to 52 calls for service.

These calls included 13 traffic violations, four animal collisions, four assistance to Canadian Provincial/Territorial agency, three false alarms, three firearms act, two mischief, two suspicious person/vehicle, two animal calls, two theft, two abandoned vehicles, one sexual interference, one careless use of a firearm, one item lost/found, one other Provincial/Territorial Statute, one operation while impaired, one fraud, one uttering threats, one assist general public, one municipal bylaw, one parking offence, one disturbing the peace, one family law act, one traffic collision, one break and enter, and one missing person.

June 5 - Rimbey RCMP received a report of gunshots. An individual heard gunshots, went to see who was shooting, and saw two unknown people get in a vehicle and drive away. Rimbey RCMP attended and made patrols, the subjects were gone on arrival.

June 6 - RCMP received a report of an individual illegally selling dogs. The individual took the person's deposit and the person paid the vet bill, but was never given the dog and is out $500. This matter is still under investigation.

June 7 - RCMP received a report of uttering threats. An individual called a company and threatened to kill the employees. The company manager declined to provide a statement but wanted to ensure the employees were safe. RCMP warned the individual to stay away from the company employees.

June 8 - Rimbey RCMP received a report of a suspicious vehicle reversing down the highway. Members attended and spoke with the driver who advised the vehicle had lost drive capabilities and only reverse worked. RCMP used emergency lights to get the vehicle to a safe area to park for the night.

June 10 - RCMP received a report of a burglar alarm. RCMP attended the scene and found the property representative had just installed the security alarm and entered the wrong code.

Rimbey RCMP provides policing services to a large geographical area.

This area goes north to Township Road 450, west to North Saskatchewan River west of Highway 22, south to Township Road 410 and east to Range Road 10. This jurisdiction encompasses the communities of Rimbey, Hoadley, Springdale, Nugent, Homeglen, Bluffton, Lavesta, Willesden Green, Leedale, Summer Village of Parkland Beach, Sandy Point, Meridian Beach, Sunnyside, Paulsen's Pasture, Raymond Shores, Lynn Acres, Birch Bay and Westlake Estates.
