Rimbey RCMP continue to investigate extortion case

During this time period, Rimbey RCMP responded to 43 calls for service.

These calls included seven traffic complaints, five mischief, three false alarms, two theft, two mental health acts, two traffic collisions, two suspicious person/vehicle/property, two well-being checks, two items lost/found, two uttering threats, one assault, one 911 act, one extortion without firearm, one assist general public, one abandoned vehicle, one provincial/territorial statute, one municipal bylaw, one family law act, one firearms act, one harassing communications, one information file, one flight from peace officer, one failure to comply, and one emergency protection order.

May 1 - Rimbey RCMP received a report of extortion. An individual was in an online relationship, and when they tried to end it the online person threatened to tell certain people about the relationship unless the individual paid them money. This matter is still under investigation.

May 3 - Rimbey RCMP received a report of an unwanted individual banging on a door for 20 minutes. An officer attended and the unwanted individual was still on scene and stated that there was someone inside they followed and were not done talking to. The RCMP removed the individual and warned them not to return.

May 3 -  Rimbey RCMP received a report of an unknown people in a house and yard. Police made patrols of the area and did not locate anything.

May 4 -  RCMP members received a report of a disturbance. Officers attended and found an individual yelling, claiming they were assaulted, and refusing to leave the premises. Parties were separated with no injuries to either party. The individual left upon RCMP instruction. This matter is still under investigation.

May 4 - Rimbey RCMP received a report of a neighbour parking dispute. Officers attended and spoke with an individual who advised that the RCMP were no longer required as both parties had discussed it and made a plan.

May 5 - RCMP received a report of a vehicle that threw beer bottles out of the window and was swerving all over the road. Officers attended, and the vehicle took off at a high rate of speed from the police. The vehicle was followed until RCMP lost visual. This matter is still under investigation.

Rimbey RCMP provides services to a large geographical area

This area goes north to Township Road 450, west to the North Saskatchewan River, west of Highway 22, south to Township Road 410, and east to Range Road 10.

This jurisdiction includes Rimbey, Hoadley, Springdale, Nugent, Homeglen, Bluffton, Lavesta, Willesden Green, Leedale, Summer Village of Parkland Beach, Sandy Point, Meridian Beach, Sunnyside, Paulsen's Pasture, Raymond Shores, Lynn Acres, Birch Bay and Westlake Estates.
