The annual Cutter Parade and Snow Dayz event is fast approaching on Feb. 1.
The Rimbey Sleigh, Wagon and Saddle Club will be holding their Cutter Parade at 11:00 a.m. just east of the VJV parking lot. At noon, the arena events start, with a new addition this year by the Alberta Friesian Horse Association.
"They're going to do a demonstration of what they call the Quadrille, which sees a team of horses perform in a pattern in the arena," said Doug Rogers, member of the Rimbey Sleigh, Wagon and Saddle Club.
There will also be an all breeds horse demonstration for people to enjoy.
The club will be holding their silent auction sale just inside the arena for those interested in participating.
At the end of the day, there will be a demonstration of a work horse team chore challenge.
"Last year, the weather cooperated with us, and we had 22 cutters, and we're really looking forward to another strong showing of the horses and cutters," said Rogers.
The event will also be held in conjunction with the Rimbey Ag. Society and Rimbey Farmers Market, along with help from Rimbey FCSS and the Boys and Girls Club, who will be helping out with the Kids Corner upstairs at the Agrim Centre.
The Snow Dayz portion of the event will begin at 12:00 p.m. after the Cutter Parade.
People can head over to the Agrim Centre to browse the farmers market from 12 to 4 p.m. along with a western market, kids corner and chilli cook-off around 2:00 p.m. where people can taste and vote for the best chilli.
"Your bragging rights is your name on the golden pot and a golden ladle as the prize," said Carol Thompson, secretary for the Rimbey Ag. Society.
People can pay $5 for a cup, spoon and a ticket, and whoever gets the most tickets in their jar wins the cook off.
There will also be a concession on site with a local company called Little Sunfllour Cafe.
From 12 to 5 p.m. there will be various horse activities in the big arena.
"It's a hub of activity," said Thompson.
The event is free of charge, but people are asked to bring a donation to the Rimbey Food Bank.
