Some big names in classic rock are coming out to Rimbey Aug. 8-10 for the first ever Rock The Track event hosted by Fire & Flood Emergency Services Speedway Society.
The event will feature Headstones, Nazareth, Bif Naked, The Northern Pikes and more.
"We've got a really good lineup," said Terry Raymond, owner of Fire & Flood Emergency Services.
Raymond's company Fire & Flood Emergency Services donates to the non-profit Speedway Society, giving back to the track. This will be the biggest fundraiser, with money raised going to support various charities around the community.
"I've always wanted to do a rock concert for charity," said Raymond. "It's just another event at the track trying to raise money to give to all the various charities we donate to."
Over the years, Raymond's company Fire & Flood Emergency Services has donated to The Rimbey Food Bank, Madden's Fight, Veterans Voices of Canada and several other local community groups and charities.
So far, there are 2,000 people booked for the event through volunteers, sponsorships and ticket sales.
"It's really good for economic impact."
There will be two stages, beer gardens and camping available for those who want to stay overnight.
On Aug. 8 the main stage artist schedule includes Punch Drunk Cabaret performing at 6:15 p.m., The Headpins at 7:30 p.m. and Honeymoon Suite at 9:30 p.m.
On Aug. 9 Revolution Engine will take the stage at 5:15 p.m. followed by The Northern Pikes at 6:30 p.m., Bif Naked at 8 p.m. and The Headstones at 9:30 p.m.
On Aug. 10 Sweet Tequila will perform at 5:15 p.m., Harelquin at 6:30 p.m., Lee Aaron at 8 p.m. and Nazareth at 9:30 p.m. Times are subject to change.
The event will take place at the Fire & Flood Emergency Services Speedway at Rimbey's Central Alberta Raceways. Tickets are available at showpass.com.
Raymond hopes to plan a bull riding event and country rock concert next year.
