Ambulance in reverse?

Dear Editor:

In the early 1990s ambulance service in Rimbey was owned and operated by Guardian Ambulance Services.

It has always been my view that certain essential services should be operated by the public sector. Somewhere along the line, others seemed to have agreed with that view and the operation of the ambulance service in Rimbey was relocated from the private to the public sector (the Town of Rimbey took over from Guardian).

Rimbey town council now deciding the service should once again be owned and operated by the private sector, (Guardian, again) seems an odd twist.

I can only hope that in coming to this decision, council had the best interests of the citizens of Rimbey and surrounding areas in mind.
