Former resident very appreciative of local service, thoughtfulness

Dear Editor,

I spent last week with all my siblings in my hometown of Rimbey, where I was able to spend a few last moments with my mom, Elizabeth Heringer before she quietly passed away. While there were definite moments of sadness with this visit, there were also many moments of the warm fuzzy feeling only offered by the small town atmosphere.

There were so many things I’d like to comment about, from the waitress at the local restaurant l who knew what I wanted to drink after my second visit, to those who knew immediately that the family was in town, but the focus of this letter is on one thing in particular.

I’ve stayed in many hotels over the years for business and pleasure travel, but one particular hotel in Rimbey has to be at the top of my list. Some have been fancier, but none have offered that down home family feeling. During the week, those of the family who stayed at the hotel were in and out constantly. The owners and staff, knowing what had transpired, must have been watching, because I’d come back and somehow they’d found time to slip in and make everything pretty again. They asked us what time we’d like breakfast and accommodated our every whim. We were even given a bereavement discount on our stay – absolutely unheard of anywhere else. Although we said our thanks when we checked out, that just didn’t seem to reflect how much it meant to us to have this lovely home away from home during our troubling time. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

With warm regards,

Bev Shiel (nee Shubert)
