Rimbey town manager Russ Wardrope’s statement that people who want to swim during the eight months the Rimbey outdoor pool is closed can swim elsewhere is correct. However, that mentality is why the surrounding communities have grown much more then Rimbey. New families moving to Central Alberta look at what each community has to offer and an indoor pool is a big factor.
I believe that a indoor pool would be a big plus for many different reasons: employment for some of the teens in town, much needed exercise for many kids and adults, and creating swimming clubs.
But I guess we will review this again in another 40 years when it is time to replace our new outdoor pool.
