October 7 crime report has local submitter confused

Dear Editor; What does being a carpenter or Ross from Friends have to do with the problem of the youth in Rimbey?

Dear Editor;

What does being a carpenter or Ross from Friends have to do with the problem of the youth in Rimbey?

What’s so bad about being a carpenter? Jesus was one.

Carpenters build homes for us to live in, furniture for us to sit on and the office that you work out of. I don’t get it?

What did Ross from Friends ever do wrong? No, he wasn’t a Mountie but he won the girl in the end of the show.

I’m not proud my son was involved in some of the things that happened in September. Is my son a bad kid? No, but what he did was bad, and he will agree.

He is not the product of someone that does drugs or drinks and does not, in your words, try to “screw the system” as you say, Dr. Phil says happens in most cases.

No, I’m not a Mountie either, but I would like to think the job I do is helpful and I have friends that are not Mounties either, but they are cooks, school teachers, bank tellers, they pump gas and without them, you sir would have to do it yourself.

Our rights as parents have been taken away from us and the kids know it. So I guess it’s been dropped in your hands but hey don’t worry, you said you won’t be here in five years.

Yes, I know there’s a parent out there reading this saying that there are parents that don’t care what their kids are doing, and I agree.

But there are parents or parent working the night shift trying to get everything for their kids and can’t be in two places at the same time – it’s a no-win problem.

Just give us our rights back and let us discipline our kids and maybe, just maybe the youth of today will relearn the word, respect, and will change back to kids that want to better their lives.

One of those parents,

Tina Matwie
