Reader upset with gifts from charities

Dear Editor:

I wonder how many people like me are fed up with the charities we donate to that keep sending us packages in the mail filled with cards, scrap pads, pens, address labels and stickers.

We donate to charities for research. How much does it cost to prepare these packages and send them out? Think of all the waste. You can’t put “return” on the envelope. The package will just be put back into your box.

I have written and requested that they do not send me all this stuff. The MS Society is the only one to reply and has quit sending the packages.

I will write again to the others and if they continue to send these “gifts” they will be off my list of charities. I hope others will do the same.
