Rimbey honours Volunteer Week

Dear Editor:

Members of the Rimbey Volunteer Week Committee will be taking to the streets for a good cause this week. Yes, it is time for the 2011 edition of the annual Volunteer Appreciation Night. This year’s theme is “Volunteers: Treasures of the Community.” Names of volunteers will be proudly displayed on treasure chests and be posted to storefront windows all over town.

On April 11, we will celebrate the thousands of hours of work that is performed by volunteers every year. The celebration will be held at the Rimbey Community Centre, with doors opening at 5 p.m. and a light supper served at 6 p.m. The evening will be capped off with some great entertainment.

This occasion will be celebrated in conjunction with 150 other communities around Alberta and many more across Canada, all of which are taking part in National Volunteer Week activities. Because the average volunteer contributes an average of 139 hours of service to the community each year, our community is truly a better place to live, work and play. Please be sure to bring a fellow volunteer and come celebrate this achievement with us at the community centre on April 11
