Submitted suggests fence good for truck museum – bad for Pas-Ka-Poo Park

Dear Editor,

Long before there was an International Truck Museum, there was Pas-Ka-Poo Park – a place where you strolled when you had some free time when you needed to think or to just be alone for a while.

As long as I can remember there always was the playground where my little sister played as well as my children and grandchildren. There were the swings, teeter-tooter and merry-go-round. People would play horseshoes, have a picnic and meet other people.

Then came the trucks and the museum buildings, which are all lovely. But now they are taking over our park.

According to the recent article, there has been vandalism. As far as I know there has been very little in the last few years. There was some a few years ago when there was also vandalism at other places such as the cemetery.

I remember Jimmy Jaffrey and some other volunteers doing some window repairs, but that was several years ago. As far as I know, there have been no police reports about vandalism to the park lately.

The park has been our pride and joy, our ‘go to’ place, and we would like to keep it our park. We do not want people locked out ever! Not in the winter or the summer. The park was meant to be strolled through, and lingered in to smell the roses.

I can see the fence makes sense around the truck museum and it’s a good job that Bud Reynolds, Dennis Andersen, Barney Oldfield and Maurice Moore did. They worked so hard for so many days.

Yours truly,

Anne Ring
