Submitter says its time for Town to crack down on derelict lot owners

Dear Editor;

Rimbey is a very fine town.

Many of its homes and yards are very well taken care of. However, as I walk about, as I often do, I also see some properties that appear to be in great need of some TLC.

I walked 50th Avenue from 51st Street to 49th Street. The first lot east of the Credit Union, where an old building had been demolished some time ago, appears to be a forgotten project. Surely it should be leveled off and cleaned up a bit more.

I turned right on 49th Street for one block and turned right again on 49th Avenue. Heavy tree growth prevents using the sidewalk for half of the first block.

The Town should get after the owners of those trees to cut them back or do the job for them and bill it to whomever owns those lots. The space between 4906 50th Avenue and the Fire Hall is a real mess however the sidewalk is worse and in some places is non-existent and appears to have been this way for a long time.

Then we come to the corner piece on 49th Avenue and 51st Street, which perhaps belongs to the adjacent hotel’s parking lot. It surely appears to be a forgotten eyesore.

Some towns organize a day of cleanup.
