UPTAG offers to help landowners post signs

Dear Editor:

Keyera Rimbey Gas Gathering System, as printed in the Rimbey Review Feb, 15, referenced that the proposed sour gas pipeline from the Gilby Plant across the 48 kilometres of prime farm and ranchland to connect to the Rimbey plant would transport liquid poisonous sour gas.

I had the opportunity of driving through the area involved and to my amazement I found that the proposed pipeline is already more than 60 per cent completed.

The other notable thing I found was that three homes and property sites were posted with for sale signs. All were within 800 metres of the pipeline. I do not recall seeing or hearing about any public hearings with regards to the project and the dangers hidden therein.

I believe that all of my neighbors and the landowners involved, particularly those to the east of the pipeline, should be made fully aware that the winds in the area blow primarily westerly. A break in the pipeline or even a serious leak would cause even one breath to be fatal to not all of the animals but also to all of the people, their children, and their pets.

UPTAG strongly recommends all landowners post their land with biological signs so that full disclosure must be given to them by appointment and assuring that the up most of caution and safety are applied if the line is intended to complete. A simple call and UPTAG will be pleased to post your land.

On behalf of UPTAG,

W.A. (Bill) Kinley
