Weary travelers find their “angels” in Rimbey following long trip

Dear Editor,

I met the most wonderful people recently in your town of Rimbey. They are my lifesavers and my angels.

I was driving from the north a while back. We had already driven eight hours that day and we were tired and still had two hours to go before getting home.

We arrived in Rimbey at 10:15 p.m. with an empty tank of gas, and as you all know, there are no gas stations open at that time of night.

I pulled into the GTI gas station parking lot thinking that my son and I would be sleeping in the back of the car instead of our warm beds at home - when our angel appeared.

I'm not sure if it was the owner or just an employee, but he opened up his gas station so we could put enough gas in our car to get home.

I am so grateful for this kind stranger, and was so thrilled that I didn't even ask his name. He and his friend didn't have to do this for us, and in this day and age there are many who wouldn't.

I just wanted to take the time to thank these kind strangers of the night for helping us out, and next time we will head to Rimbey during the day so we can see your community when it is awake!
