2 charged with drug trafficking in Drayton Valley

Two Drayton Valley residents have been charged with drug trafficking and a slew of other offences after a search warrant was executed at a local motel last month. 

Following a month-long investigation, the Drayton Valley RCMP General Investigation Section carried out a search warrant on March 28, leading to the arrests and seizures of drugs and cash. 

Items seized included Methamphetamine, cocaine and fentanyl (most pre-packaged); a rifle that had been stolen in Mayerthorpe, Alta., in 2008; several weapons including knives and a baton, and over $1,500 in Canadian currency.

Charley Thompson, 51, is facing numerous firearms and weapons-related charges and possession of the proceeds of crime under $5,000 in addition to three counts of trafficking.

Courtney Haubi, 26, has been charged with three firearms-related offences and three weapons offences as well three counts of drug trafficking.

Thompson and Haubi were brought before a justice of the peace. Thompson was remanded into custody while Haubi was released on conditions. Both are to appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Drayton Valley on April 15, 2025.
