Jamie Coston

Running for: Rimbey Town Councillor

Why are you running for council?

I want to give my time and energy back to the community that I cherish and grew up in; this is my first time running for town council.

What do you feel have brought/bring to council?

I would like to think that I would bring a voice to council that is very inclusive with regards to the relationships and connections I have made at FCSS with seniors and to families from my time when I worked at the Elementary School. I will be an ear for all the people of Rimbey.

If someone were to ask you ‘Why should I vote for you,’ what would you say?

I would say you should vote for me because I will bring energy and fresh perspectives, I will listen to all viewpoints while trying to make decisions that will benefit the majority of the community.

What is your vision for the community

My vision for the community is to grow community connections. I would like to help community groups increase communication and collaboration for the greater good of all. I would also focus on what makes our town the great community it is and strive to enhance citizens’ care for the town.

My priorities are recreation, sports, and activities; these are things that bring people together and when people are invested in a community activity they are more inclined to be community-minded.

What if your professional experience and how do you feel it will lend itself to municipal government?

Currently, I am the Community Programs Coordinator at Rimbey FCSS, and former Librarian at the Elementary School, I also previously was a business owner in town. These professional experiences lend me to having a connection with many people and groups in town, which will allow me to speak on a diverse range of ideas and needs.
