Motorists need to be prepared to adjust driving

Winds are expected to reach 100 km/h today in areas in Ponoka and Red Deer counties and Innisfail and Stettler.

The wind warning is in effect for Ponoka County specifically near Ponoka and Maskwacis.

The low pressure system forming near Grade Prairie this morning will travel southeastward to Saskatchewan by this evening.

In the wake of the system very storng northerly winds gusting from 70 km/h to 100 km/h or more will develop and will follow the low on its journey southeastward.

Also, strong westerly winds that started this morning in southwestern Alberta should improve by later this afternoon.

Motorists are warned to adjust their driving with the changing road conditions and damage to buldings such as to roof shingles and windows may occur. Loose objects may be tossed hy the wind and cause inury or damage.

Wind warnings are issued when there is a significant risk of damaging winds.
