I was born in Medicine Hat to third generation farmers, growing up with five brothers. My husband and I have owned and operated a cow/calf operation west of Rimbey since 1990. I am analytical, have strong financial skills and I am detail-oriented.

I managed a fast-paced business for many years. In that role, budgeting skills were critical and I carry that forward in all aspects of life, whether personal or as a councillor working for the ratepayers. I was first appointed to Ponoka County in 2013 and have been very honoured to serve the residents of Division 5.

The most rewarding part of the job, for me, has been helping people and I am committed to continuing to do this.

Issues facing rural residents have not changed much in the last few years — crime and the revolving justice system are high on my list of priorities, along with access to healthcare services for rural residents.

Relying as heavily as we do, on the oil and gas sector has been a concern of council for several years. Attracting commercial ventures and businesses to our area, without adversely affecting our farm and residential population, continues to be a balancing act.

I have a long history of volunteering within the community, with organizations such as Crimewatch, FCSS, Central AB Raceways, Adult Learning, Last West Hall and the Physician Recruitment and Retention Committee.

If I am re-elected, I will continue to be a strong voice for my area. As a county we need to continue to advocate for our residents, whether it’s rural crime issues, or our health care system and the challenges rural residents face daily.
