The Rimbey 4-H club has had a busy timetable for the past two months.
In February we had our club public speaking and heard some well-prepared speeches. Our senior winners were Jordyn Valstar in first, Jenna Simpson in second, Erin Simpson in third, and Ashley Makofka in fourth. In Intermediate we had Sierra Brand in first, Emily Giesbrecht in second, Laci Hofmann in third, and Keelie Portiek in fourth. In Juniors we had Aevyn Giesbrecht in first, Kayden Hofmann in second, Erika Hansen in third, and Brendan Portiek in fourth.
First and second of each level moved onto zones public speaking later that month where Valstar placed in senior-level and moved onto districts. Valstar placed at the district level and is now moving onto regionals.
At the beginning of March we had our fifth annual meeting where we talked about potential public service and planned a fun day. About halfway through the month, we had an interclub first aid course open to all members over the age of twelve or alumni to attend. Later in the month, we had our virtual multispecies judging where we judged multiple different items, from birds to heifers. Thank you to our leaders for planning this activity.
The next day we had our fun day, we had decided in our meeting would be going to the movies. Our club booked two theatres in Sylvan Lake and allowed members, leaders, and family to come along.
Coming up in April we have interclub bowling, our sixth annual meeting, carcass judging, and mini show. Members will be working hard in April so their calves are ready for our interclub show and sale on May 8 and 9. Hope to see you there.
Like the Cody Johnson song says, ‘if you’ve got a dream, chase it, ‘cause a dream won’t chase you back’.
