Cowboys and cowgirls will be gathering at the Buck Lake Stampede Grounds on Aug. 19 and 20 to raise money for those in need in Ukraine.

This will be the 31st rodeo for the West Of The 5th Rodeo Society, but unlike past rodeos this one will be a pro rodeo hopefully drawing in top riders to support this worthwhile cause.

“We had a meeting one night and we were talking about what happened with Russia and Ukraine and we thought we could help out the people that need help right now,” explained West Of The 5th Rodeo Society president, Clay Reich, adding that the society is currently looking for sponsors so more money from ticket sales can reach those in need.

“I think it’s going to be lots of fun,” Reich said of the upcoming event.

In addition to the rodeo, there will be beer gardens and live music from local band Chronic Dogs.

“Buck Lake is usually a good time,” said Reich.

“After every rodeo, talking to people, and everyone’s had a blast. And this is for a good cause.”

All profits will be donated to Alberta Stands With Ukraine.
