Hosted by the Winfield Ag Society, this year's 'Amazing Race' is all set to launch on May 10.

Now into its second year, participants will tackle exciting challenges at eight different locations, said Sarah Magnuson, a volunteer with the Winfield Agricultural Society.

It costs $250 for a team of four to take part, and that includes all the challenges plus one drink per member, dinner, and a chance to take home some amazing prizes, she said. The event runs rain or shine, and there are limited team spots available.

Start time is 12:30 p.m. at the Winfield Hall.

"We started the race last year with Longshot, and it was such a hit within the community we wanted to do it again," said Magnuson. "It's a mix between businesses and local organizations - they are all making their own challenges," she said of the event.

"It's just a big afternoon of fun!"

As mentioned, teams start out at the Winfield Hall where they are given a clue, and then they all launch into the race from a different spot.

"They then circulate through all of the eight spots."

She said that last year, 28 people took part, but this year she expects 32 to sign up.

Based on what she saw and heard last year, Magnuson is confident of a superb time for participants again this year.

"Everyone loved it. It was in March, so it was a bit colder. But there was everything from a cold plunge to eating sardines to word challenges at the library," she said.

"I loved the variety of it. It was a great afternoon with friends and family checking out different places in the community."

She can't give away what awaits this year's competitors, but she noted there will be plenty for participants to enjoy.

"It will be a different variety of stops."
