On Sep. 21, the Rimbey Drug Mart sign is going from the red of Value Drug Mart to the green of Guardian, a banner change that lets the passionate local pharmacy team offer even better services and prices.
“We’re changing our name, but customers will still see the same great people and get the same great service,” says William Poggemiller, pharmacist and managing partner of Rimbey Drug Mart. “Working with Guardian will allow us to offer even more products at a better price point than we have in the past.”
The biggest change customers will notice is a better selection of private label products on the shelves. You’ll be able to pick up the less-expensive store brand of items like painkillers and off-the-shelf allergy medication, and there will be a wider selection of sizes and strengths available too. Home healthcare products like shower aids, walkers, scooters, canes and grab bars will also be more affordable and widely available.
“We’ve always wanted to offer a wide selection at affordable prices, but some of our private label products have been on back-order for months. That means customers have been forced to buy a huge bottle of a name-brand product. We’re excited that a lot of those issues will be solved with Guardian,” William says.
New pharmacy flyer, same trusted pharmacy
After Tuesday Sep. 21 you’ll start receiving a new paper flyer — it will have different colours and products, but don’t panic, it’s not a new pharmacy.
They’ve already started the Guardian rewards program that allows registered customers to collect points on over-the-counter purchases. Other changes around the store will be minimal, but William is excited to have better support behind the scenes.
“We pride ourselves on being a high service pharmacy, and that doesn’t have anything to do with the banner on the store. We’ll still offer as many services as we can — prescribing services, clinical services, immunization and other medical support — and may get some extra resource training and patient education tools from Guardian,” he says. “We’re always looking to do more for our clients, and review our services on an annual basis to see where we can improve.”
