In the town of Bentley, Brad and Andrea Bromley have transformed a longstanding small-town grocery store into a vibrant hub for fresh, local food. Since opening The Market in Bentley in April, the Bromleys have worked tirelessly to offer their community not only the essentials but also a unique shopping experience that reflects the area’s agricultural richness and close-knit spirit.

“We’ve been in the grocery business our whole lives,”Brad says. “When we took over this store, we knew we wanted to create something special – fully independent and family-owned with a big focus on fresh and supporting local producers.”

Their vision is apparent throughout the store, from the wide aisles filled with fresh produce from nearby farms to the bakery with fresh goods.

Being in the grocery business as long as they have, the Bromleys knew what Bentley  needed – a place where fresh, quality products could be sourced locally, with the warmth of personalized service. “The community support has been overwhelming," Andrea adds.

“People were waiting for us to open, and they’ve really shown up for us. We want to give that back by making sure our customers get what they need, and we’re constantly asking how we can improve.”

One of the things that sets The Market in Bentley apart is its emphasis on local products. The shelves feature offerings like Pik N Pak produce, Scholing’s Potatoes, Kastelen sausages,, Lor Al  Springs water, Red Deer Ice and Koornneef farms among many others “We’re proud to be carrying so many local brands,” Brad says. “It’s about running a grocery store and supporting the people in this community.”

With a full range of groceries, including fresh dairy, frozen items and meats, The Market feels like a big store packed into a cosy space. “We’ve got everything you need,” Andrea says. “It’s been a massive overhaul to get the store where it is today. We’ve renovated every part of it, and we’re really proud of what we’ve built here.”

Active in the community

Beyond the products they sell, the Bromleys are also active supporters of local initiatives, contributing to the school breakfast and lunch programs and sponsoring local sports teams. “Being part of Bentley means we want to give back,” Andrea says. “We’re here to help this town thrive.”

"I love it – food is essential, and it’s rewarding to be able to provide for our community in such a personal way," Brad says. "We’re family-run, we’re fresh, and we’re here for Bentley.”

For the Bromleys, the past six months have been a whirlwind of growth and gratitude. "We just want to say a big thank you to everyone who has supported us.”
