Active cases down in central zone Tuesday

Although the total number of COVID-19 cases increased by 124 on Monday, the number of active cases went down, the province confirmed Tuesday afternoon.

There were no COVID-19-deaths in Alberta, according to numbers posted on the government’s website.

The number of active cases in the central zone was at 36 – down from the active numbers the day before: 49.

Six hundred and fifty people have recovered in the central zone with none in the hospital.

The death toll in the local zone remains at seven.

The cases were also down in the City of Red Deer Tuesday at nine, from the previous day’s number: 16 – a decrease of seven. To date, 94 people have recovered from the virus in the city.

The Town of Sylvan Lake was at one active Tuesday (down from five active the previous day), Lacombe County at four (down from seven), Ponoka County at two (up one), the City of Wetaskiwin kept steady at three and Mountain View County at one.

There are zero active cases in some central Alberta municipalities: City of Lacombe, County of Stettler, Wetaskiwin County, Red Deer County, Clearwater County and the Town of Olds.

The numbers released Tuesday showed the province has 1,491 active cases down from 1,538 on Monday.

The number of people in hospital increased by two Tuesday at 39. Seven people are in intensive care across the province.

The death toll remained at 254 in Alberta.

In the Calgary zone, there are 540 active cases with 7,538 recoveries, 15 in hospital out of which five are in intensive care. There have been 120 virus-deaths in the zone.

The Edmonton zone has the most active cases in the province at 650 with 3,307 recoveries with no one in hospital. Sixty-nine people are confirmed dead in the zone with the virus.

South zone has 33 active cases of the virus, with 605 recovered and no one in the hospital. The zone has confirmed 25 deaths to date.

North zone has 223 active cases with 1,005 recovered, with six people in hospital and zero in intensive care. There have been 33 virus-deaths in the zone to date.
