President of the Rimbey Ag Society Jill Moore got quite the sweet treat at the First Annual Steak Supper and Dance held at the Co-operators Agrim Centre on Dec. 10.

“We were having a lot of fun with the bake sale and then board members sort of initiated it a little bit, but the whole room just started having a lot of fun and throwing 20 dollar bills on the front table, so I figured it was my obligation to keep things fun and raise more money. It was a blast,” she said of the event.

The event was actually part of their AGM, which they decided to add on the dinner and dance to.

“It was tons of fun. We need to get the community onside and have them come out and know us and keep building trust and keep uniting the community.”

Among those in attendance were the Rimbey Rodeo Royalty, who helped Josh Carothers with the auctioneering of the cakes for the steak dinner.

Moore said it was the adults who started the pie throwing off and then it was all the kids in the end.

The total raised was $1,427 between the bake sale and the pie in the face, which will go toward the ag-run events they put on.

The money will be split between the Society’s various events, which include the roughstock practice night, team roping and dummy roping practice nights, barrel racing jackpots, rodeo jackpots, ranch rodeo series, their annual Kevin Hopper Memorial Ranch Rodeo and Snow Dayz event.

“We’re just hoping to make it bigger every year,” said Moore.
