A home in Bentley has significant damage to its main floor and water damage in the basement after a fire on Sept. 14.

The Bentley District Fire Department was dispatched first at 2:23 p.m. An engine from the Lacombe Fire Department was also dispatched as mutual aid.

“There was at least one occupant at home, but they made it out safely on their own before we arrived on scene,” said Bentley District Fire Chief Ian McLaren.

“The fire was knocked down within 10 minutes or so, but complete overhaul took several hours.”

McLaren says it will be up to the homeowners and their insurance company to determine if the home is total loss or not.

According to McLaren, a neighboring home had some minor damage to the siding due to radiant heat from the house that was on fire.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
