Boys and Girls Club (BGC) Wolf Creek is offering residents free counselling services by a licensed and registered therapist.

The service is open to all children, youth and families to access, with no referrals necessary.

“One of the things that’s really come out after COVID is the need for some counselling services, whether it’s for families together, children individually, parents individually, whatever that might be,” said Beth Reitz, executive director of BGC Wolf Creek. ”We had a funder Medavie approach us and ask us if there was something that they could fund along those lines in our communities and so that was the project that we came up with.”

They are currently offering a day and a half at the Ponoka Youth Centre Monday and Tuesday afternoons and Fridays at the Rimbey Nazarene Church. Reitz said that the church is part of their rental space for the Boys and Girls Club office, but that the counselling services are not christian based.

“We already have a significant number of clients,” she said about the feedback in just a short amount of time.

Those in need of counselling can contact counselor@bgcwolfcreek.com, admin@bgcwolfcreek.com or by calling the office at 403-783-3112.
