Breton RCMP investigate fatal collision on Highway 22

RCMP are investigating after a 42-year-old female from Rimbey died in a vehicle collision on Highway 22 on Nov. 9.

The serious two-vehicle collision occurred on Highway 22 approximately one kilometre south of the intersection of Highway 616 in Brazeau County, at about 10:16 p.m.

Breton RCMP with the assistance of Thorsby RCMP and Emergency Medical Services, responded to the scene. The female from Rimbey, who had been driving a car, was pronounced deceased on scene.

The driver of the other vehicle involved, an SUV, was a 55-year-old female from Alder Flats, Alta. She was transported by STARS air ambulance to a local area hospital with serious injuries.

Traffic was re-routed for a period of time while the RCMP Collision Analyst attended the scene.

Breton RCMP with the assistance of the RCMP Collision Analyst continue to investigate the cause of the collision.

No further updates are anticipated and the name of the deceased will not be released.
