Bentley voters are going back to the polls sooner than they had expected.
With a vacancy created on Bentley town council with the passing of newly re-elected councilor Cliff Knutson, it has been determined that a byelection must be held supposedly within 90 days of the position becoming vacant meaning a byelection must be held by the end of January.
That would result in advertising and a nomination date during the Christmas season when citizens might be busy with other things, therefore, a recommendation to ask the Minister of Municipal Affairs for an extension to February 20 is being considered and will be decided at the next regular town council meeting on November 12.
