Charges laid at Gull Lake

Alberta Environment has laid charges against Dale Mather for allegedly removing aquatic vegetation from the bed and shore of Gull Lake, without proper authorization.

In September 2009, Alberta Environment launched an investigation after receiving a public complaint that alterations were being made to the shoreline of the lake, near Mather’s property. Under Alberta’s Water Act, any activity that may impact a water body requires appropriate approvals.

The first court appearance is set for May 5, in Red Deer Provincial Court.

Alberta Environment focuses on education, prevention and enforcement to ensure all Albertans continue to enjoy a clean and healthy environment.
